# RedThread vs Bive

The clearest difference is rating: RedThread at 5.0 against Bive's 4.5. RedThread also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months) and device support (3 vs 1). Bive's advantage is ratings volume (40 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RedThread sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Bive sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

RedThread holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bive has 40 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

RedThread ships an update every 5 days, Bive every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
