# Classology vs Recess

The clearest difference is monetization model: Classology at free with in-app purchases against Recess's subscription. Classology also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 71%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Classology sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Recess sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Classology against 4.8 for Recess. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 98 and 34 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Classology's written reviews are positive against 71% of Recess's.

Classology ships an update fortnightly, Recess every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
