# Cipher vs Nota

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Cipher at none against Nota's 4. Cipher also leads on iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). Nota's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nota sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Cipher asks for nothing beyond the download.

Cipher ships an update every 5 weeks, Nota weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
