# Music Notes vs FluteTone

The clearest difference is rating: FluteTone at 5.0 against Music Notes's 4.8. Music Notes's advantage is ratings volume (17 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Music Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and FluteTone sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FluteTone holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Music Notes has 17 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Music Notes ships an update every 3 weeks, FluteTone every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
