# XinChao vs Write Chinese

The clearest difference is update cadence: XinChao at fortnightly against Write Chinese's monthly. XinChao also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. XinChao sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Write Chinese sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
