# Untangle vs Focus Friend

The clearest difference is ads: Focus Friend at none against Untangle's shown. Focus Friend also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Untangle's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Untangle sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Focus Friend sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Focus Friend holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Untangle has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Untangle ships an update every 8 days, Focus Friend every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
