# Read.md vs EngKit

The clearest difference is device support: Read.md at 4 against EngKit's 2. Read.md also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Read.md sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and EngKit sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Read.md ships an update fortnightly, EngKit every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
