# Tomato vs Basil

The clearest difference is update cadence: Tomato at every 9 days against Basil's every 5 weeks. Tomato also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tomato sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Basil sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tomato ships an update every 9 days, Basil every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
