# Period Tracker vs Aster

The clearest difference is update cadence: Period Tracker at every 2 days against Aster's every 2 months. Aster's advantage is iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Period Tracker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Aster sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Period Tracker ships an update every 2 days, Aster every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
