# Soul Arc vs Self

The clearest difference is ads: Self at none against Soul Arc's shown. Self also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (daily vs every 4 days). Soul Arc's advantage is ratings volume (9 vs 1). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Soul Arc sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Self sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Soul Arc against 5.0 for Self. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Soul Arc has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Soul Arc ships an update every 4 days, Self daily. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
