# OCR Scanner vs Lector

The clearest difference is update cadence: Lector at every 2 days against OCR Scanner's every 2 months. OCR Scanner's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OCR Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Lector sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OCR Scanner ships an update every 2 months, Lector every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
