# Chords Explorer vs Open

The clearest difference is update cadence: Chords Explorer at every 8 days against Open's every 3 weeks. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chords Explorer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Open sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chords Explorer ships an update every 8 days, Open every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
