# Unhook vs Focus Cat

The clearest difference is monetization model: Focus Cat at free with in-app purchases against Unhook's subscription. Focus Cat also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 9 days). Unhook's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Unhook sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 7 days and Focus Cat sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Unhook holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 3 respectively.

Unhook ships an update every 9 days, Focus Cat every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
