About

Vocabild

Features

Vocabild helps you remember German words by turning each one into a picture you can't forget. Instead of repeating flashcards until they blur together, every word gets a keyword that sounds like it, a short scene, and an illustration linking that sound to the meaning. Fenster sounds like "fence stare." Blume sounds like "bloom." The keyword is an English word your ear already knows, so there is nothing extra to memorise. DER, DIE AND DAS, WITHOUT MEMORISING ARTICLES Every German noun is der, die or das, and there is rarely any logic to which. Tisch, Gabel, Messer. Table, fork, knife. Three genders, no pattern. Vocabild puts the article inside the picture. Three characters appear across every scene: - A deer means der. Deer, der. - A bee means die. Die rhymes with bee. - Glass means das. Das, glass. In the Fenster scene, fans lean over a garden fence and stare across a lawn, straight through the big glass window of a mansion. The glass is not scenery. That is how you already knew Fenster was das, without trying. Learn three characters once and you never memorise an article again. ANY WORD, NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S DECK Most vocabulary apps hand you a fixed list. Vocabild builds a mnemonic on demand for any German word you search: the ones from your textbook, your podcast, your last conversation. Paste a word, get a scene back. HOW IT WORKS - Search any German word - Get a keyword, a scene, an example sentence and an image - Save the ones you want to keep - Review with flip cards and spaced repetition FEATURES - Keyword mnemonics and illustrations for any German word - The three-character gender system built into every scene - Spaced repetition, so words return just before you would forget them - Offline study for everything you have saved, images included - Starter sets by theme to browse - Write your own keyword and scene over any card - Clean, distraction-free design - No account, no email, no name required WHO IT IS FOR Learners from A1 upward. Beginners building a first few hundred words, and intermediates stuck between B1 and B2, where progress is almost entirely vocabulary volume. Built for exam preparation, and for anyone who has drilled rote flashcards and forgotten them anyway. FREE AND PRO Searching words, reading their mnemonics and browsing starter sets are free and unlimited. What counts is saving a word to your vocabulary. Free accounts can save 10 words. Those 10 are permanent: deleting a saved word does not return the slot. Starter sets are browsable lists, and adding a word from one uses a slot like any other. Pro removes the limit: - Save as many words as you like - Generate more new mnemonics each day - Ask for a different scene whenever one does not land Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed to your Apple ID. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store settings. GOOD TO KNOW Your vocabulary and progress are stored on your device. There is no cloud sync yet, so moving to a new iPhone means starting your saved set again. Vocabild is not directed at children under 16.
