# Writing App vs Authora

The clearest difference is monetization model: Writing App at free against Authora's freemium. Writing App also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 9 days) and ratings volume (3 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writing App sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Authora sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Writing App against 5.0 for Authora. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Writing App ships an update every 3 days, Authora every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
