# Fretionary vs UltraChord

The clearest difference is rating: UltraChord at 5.0 against Fretionary's 4.5. UltraChord also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 78%). Fretionary's advantage is ratings volume (28 vs 3) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 8 days). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fretionary sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and UltraChord sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

UltraChord holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fretionary has 28 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 78% of Fretionary's written reviews are positive against 100% of UltraChord's.

Fretionary ships an update every 4 days, UltraChord every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
