# CPChess vs Gambit

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Gambit at none against CPChess's 6. CPChess's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CPChess sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Gambit asks for nothing beyond the download.

CPChess ships an update every 2 weeks, Gambit every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
