# Screen Time Control vs Ransom

The clearest difference is update cadence: Ransom at every 5 days against Screen Time Control's every 2 weeks. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Time Control sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Ransom sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Screen Time Control ships an update every 2 weeks, Ransom every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
