# MsgBack vs Web Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Web Scanner at 4.0 against MsgBack's 2.9. Web Scanner also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3). MsgBack's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (27 vs 4). On price, update cadence, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MsgBack sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Web Scanner asks for nothing beyond the download.

Web Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MsgBack has 27 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
