# Ferment vs DigitalKnife

The clearest difference is ads: DigitalKnife at none against Ferment's shown. DigitalKnife also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ferment sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and DigitalKnife sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
