# Viceless vs A Cool Journal

Viceless and A Cool Journal both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of A Cool Journal's written reviews are positive against 50% of Viceless's. A Cool Journal also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly). Viceless's advantage is ratings volume (11 vs 2) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Viceless sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and A Cool Journal sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

A Cool Journal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Viceless has 11 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of Viceless's written reviews are positive against 100% of A Cool Journal's.

Viceless ships an update fortnightly, A Cool Journal every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
