# Spokn vs Slate

The clearest difference is update cadence: Slate at every 3 days against Spokn's every 2 months. Slate also leads on device support (3 vs 1). Spokn's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spokn sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Slate sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Spokn against 5.0 for Slate. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spokn has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Spokn ships an update every 2 months, Slate every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
