# Trot vs StepCat

The clearest difference is ads: StepCat at none against Trot's shown. StepCat also leads on iOS requirement (16.4 vs 26.0). Trot's advantage is ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Trot sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and StepCat sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Trot against 5.0 for StepCat. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trot has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Trot ships an update fortnightly, StepCat every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
