# Nous vs BookSafe

The clearest difference is monetization model: BookSafe at free against Nous's freemium. On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nous sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and BookSafe sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Nous ships an update weekly, BookSafe every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
