# Chip vs Boring Widget

The clearest difference is update cadence: Boring Widget at every 2 days against Chip's every 10 days. Boring Widget also leads on iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chip sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Boring Widget sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chip ships an update every 10 days, Boring Widget every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
