# Gecko Drums vs BackBeat

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: BackBeat at none against Gecko Drums's 1. Gecko Drums's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.5). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gecko Drums sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. BackBeat asks for nothing beyond the download.

Gecko Drums ships an update every 10 days, BackBeat every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
