# Codex Reader Early Access vs Episteme

The clearest difference is update cadence: Episteme at every 2 days against Codex Reader Early Access's weekly. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Codex Reader Early Access sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Episteme sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Codex Reader Early Access ships an update weekly, Episteme every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 14, 2026.
