# BoringNote vs markdown notes

The clearest difference is monetization model: BoringNote at free against markdown notes's freemium. On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BoringNote sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and markdown notes sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BoringNote ships an update every 5 days, markdown notes every 10 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
