# OpenWay vs NetProtector

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: OpenWay at none against NetProtector's 4. OpenWay also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 71%). NetProtector's advantage is ratings volume (115 vs 14). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NetProtector sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days. OpenWay asks for nothing beyond the download.

NetProtector holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NetProtector has 115 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of OpenWay's written reviews are positive against 71% of NetProtector's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OpenWay ships an update fortnightly, NetProtector weekly. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
