# Neon vs Mugipocket

The clearest difference is ads: Neon at none against Mugipocket's shown. Neon also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium). Mugipocket's advantage is ratings volume (190 vs 37) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.5). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neon sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Mugipocket sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Neon against 4.6 for Mugipocket. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mugipocket has 190 ratings behind it against 37, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 83% of Neon's written reviews are positive against 80% of Mugipocket's.

Neon ships an update every 3 days, Mugipocket every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
