# COOLPHABETS vs Start Writing

The clearest difference is update cadence: COOLPHABETS at every 5 days against Start Writing's fortnightly. COOLPHABETS also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. COOLPHABETS sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $79.00 per year and Start Writing sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

COOLPHABETS ships an update every 5 days, Start Writing fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
