# Shepherd vs SermonNote

The clearest difference is update cadence: Shepherd at every 2 days against SermonNote's every 3 weeks. SermonNote's advantage is iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shepherd sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per year and SermonNote sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shepherd ships an update every 2 days, SermonNote every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
