# WA Backup Reader vs ChatVault

The clearest difference is update cadence: WA Backup Reader at every 4 days against ChatVault's fortnightly. WA Backup Reader also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 26.4). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WA Backup Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and ChatVault sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WA Backup Reader ships an update every 4 days, ChatVault fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
