# HeyWrite vs Start Writing

The clearest difference is update cadence: HeyWrite at every 5 days against Start Writing's fortnightly. HeyWrite also leads on iOS requirement (15.5 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HeyWrite sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month and Start Writing sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

HeyWrite ships an update every 5 days, Start Writing fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
