Which beach? Ask PlayaYa! A score for every beach, rock pool and natural pool in the Canaries, hour by hour, for whatever you came to do. Grey day, rain, the urge is gone. But the Canaries have microclimates: while you're staring at clouds, half an hour away there's sun to spare. The problem is, you don't know where. PlayaYa! does. Open the app, look at the map. Every pin is a beach. The colour tells you if it's worth it: bright green = go. Grey = stay home. You don't even need to read numbers. One colour, one decision, towel in the car. OPEN. SLIDE. GO. 1. Open PlayaYa! and the map fills with colour. 2. Drag the slider and watch the pins change hour by hour: 48 hours ahead, and 72 if you ask. Or mark a whole window and every pin shows its score for the whole window, not for a single moment. 3. Green pin, tap "Directions", Apple Maps opens. Done. Where several beaches sit close together, the map groups them in one pin. Tap it and they open one by one, each with its name and score. WHAT ARE YOU HERE FOR? Swimming isn't surfing, and surfing isn't diving. Tell it your plan and the map changes with you: • Swim: parasol, calm water and sun. • Surf: 21 breaks on 4 islands, with wave height, period, direction and character. • Diving: 11 dive sites on 5 islands, with water clarity. • Paddle surf and kayak: flat sea and light wind. Breaks and dive sites have their own page, with their sport's colour hour by hour, their best hour and the schools, guides and shops nearby. The surf score is calibrated against outside references: a choppy sea doesn't score as surfable, however much it moves. EVERYTHING YOU NEED FROM EACH BEACH Tap any pin and the full beach page opens: • Temperature, wind, clouds, rain and UV index. • Waves: height, period, swell direction. • Tides: high and low tide worked out for each island. • Water temperature everywhere: beaches, rock pools and natural pools. • Water quality at 169 of them: bathing allowed or banned, with the official counts and the date of the last sample. Checked daily, so a closure doesn't catch you in the car park. • Air quality: calima (Saharan dust) alerts with live PM10. • Facilities: parking, showers, lifeguard, accessibility, Blue Flag. • Live webcams at 16 beaches, in case you'd rather see it with your own eyes. All on one screen. Real data, not generic cloud icons. And in your units: °C or °F, km/h, mph or knots, metres or feet. NO NEED TO KEEP CHECKING Set an alert for your favourite beach. Pick the conditions you want: minimum score, no rain, light wind. If your plan is surf or diving, the alert watches that sport's conditions, not the sun. PlayaYa! keeps watch and tells you when they're met. No more checking the weather every morning. OFFICIAL WEATHER WARNINGS AEMET warnings built into the app. Rain, strong wind, calima, dangerous waves. You see them before you leave home. 287 BEACHES, ROCK POOLS AND NATURAL POOLS ON ALL 8 ISLANDS • Tenerife: Las Teresitas, El Médano, Los Cristianos, Benijo, Charco de La Laja, Bajamar and many more. • Gran Canaria: Las Canteras, Maspalomas, Amadores, Mogán, Los Charcones. • Lanzarote: Papagayo, Famara, Playa Blanca, Charco del Palo. • Fuerteventura: Corralejo, Sotavento, Cofete, El Cotillo. • La Palma: Puerto Naos, Los Cancajos, Charco Azul. • La Gomera: Valle Gran Rey, Santiago, Hermigua. • El Hierro: La Restinga, Tacorón, Charco Azul. • La Graciosa: Las Conchas, La Francesa. PRIVACY FIRST • No account. Open the app and go. • No ad tracking. No IDFA. No profiles. • Anonymous usage analytics, on EU servers. Turn them off in Settings whenever you like. • Your location is only used when you tap your position on the map, and it's rounded to a cell several kilometres wide before the weather is checked. It isn't stored or linked to you. • No ads. No purchases. Free. In English, Spanish, Italian, German and Dutch. Made in the Canary Islands by a Canarian, for people who live for the beach.
