# Prop Screen vs MakiRoll

Prop Screen and MakiRoll both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of MakiRoll's written reviews are positive against 38% of Prop Screen's. MakiRoll also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly). Prop Screen's advantage is ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Prop Screen sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and MakiRoll sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MakiRoll holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prop Screen has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 38% of Prop Screen's written reviews are positive against 100% of MakiRoll's.

Prop Screen ships an update weekly, MakiRoll every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
