# Vidy vs LocalAI

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: LocalAI at none against Vidy's 8. LocalAI also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5). Vidy's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (909 vs 3). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Vidy sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. LocalAI asks for nothing beyond the download.

LocalAI holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Vidy has 909 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Vidy ships an update every 4 days, LocalAI monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
