# stac vs Hearth Island

The clearest difference is update cadence: Hearth Island at every 11 days against stac's every 2 months. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. stac sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Hearth Island sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

stac ships an update every 2 months, Hearth Island every 11 days. Both last shipped on October 31, 2026.
