# Pixel Paint vs Splashell

The clearest difference is ads: Pixel Paint at none against Splashell's shown. Splashell's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pixel Paint sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Splashell sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pixel Paint ships an update every 3 weeks, Splashell every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
