# opencast vs RSS Reader

The clearest difference is iOS requirement: RSS Reader at 18.0 against opencast's 27.0. On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. opencast sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and RSS Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

opencast ships an update every 10 days, RSS Reader every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on September 19, 2026 and September 25, 2026 respectively.
