# Codex. vs Chat

The clearest difference is update cadence: Codex. at every 3 days against Chat's weekly. Codex. also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Codex. sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month and Chat sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Codex. ships an update every 3 days, Chat weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
