# GEN vs Glassy Desk

The clearest difference is review sentiment: GEN at 100% against Glassy Desk's 50%. GEN also leads on rating (5.0 vs 3.0) and update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). Glassy Desk's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GEN sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Glassy Desk sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GEN holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 2 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of GEN's written reviews are positive against 50% of Glassy Desk's.

GEN ships an update every 3 days, Glassy Desk weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
