# Snapnote vs Shard

The clearest difference is ads: Shard at none against Snapnote's shown. Shard also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Snapnote sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Shard sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Snapnote ships an update every 2 months, Shard every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
