# PDFNext vs PDF Reader

The clearest difference is review sentiment: PDFNext at 100% against PDF Reader's 50%. PDFNext also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). PDF Reader's advantage is ratings volume (41 vs 2) and chart position (#89 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDFNext sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and PDF Reader sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $14.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDFNext holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Reader has 41 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of PDFNext's written reviews are positive against 50% of PDF Reader's.

PDFNext ships an update every 4 days, PDF Reader every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
