# Notation vs Opuscan

The clearest difference is rating: Notation at 5.0 against Opuscan's 4.3. Notation also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). Opuscan's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notation sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Opuscan asks for nothing beyond the download.

Notation holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Opuscan has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Notation ships an update every 10 days, Opuscan every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
