# PDF Reader vs Scantrix PDF Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Scantrix PDF Scanner at 5.0 against PDF Reader's 4.0. Scantrix PDF Scanner also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks). PDF Reader's advantage is ratings volume (41 vs 1) and chart position (#149 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Reader sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $14.99 per 7 days and Scantrix PDF Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.39 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scantrix PDF Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Reader has 41 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PDF Reader ships an update every 3 weeks, Scantrix PDF Scanner every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
