# BoxMaxxing vs IX NOVA

The clearest difference is monetization model: IX NOVA at freemium against BoxMaxxing's subscription. IX NOVA also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). BoxMaxxing's advantage is ratings volume (142 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BoxMaxxing sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and IX NOVA sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

IX NOVA holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BoxMaxxing has 142 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BoxMaxxing ships an update fortnightly, IX NOVA weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
