# Recess vs Prepful

The clearest difference is monetization model: Prepful at free with in-app purchases against Recess's subscription. Prepful also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 weeks) and ratings volume (598 vs 34). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Recess sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Prepful sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Recess against 4.8 for Prepful. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prepful has 598 ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 71% of Recess's written reviews are positive against 67% of Prepful's.

Recess ships an update every 2 weeks, Prepful every 3 days. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
