# Speed VPN vs SelfFirst

The clearest difference is update cadence: SelfFirst at every 10 days against Speed VPN's every 3 weeks. SelfFirst also leads on iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and SelfFirst sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speed VPN ships an update every 3 weeks, SelfFirst every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
