# Timber vs Reader

The clearest difference is ads: Timber at none against Reader's shown. Timber also leads on device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Timber sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Timber ships an update every 4 days, Reader every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
